Portugese Kale soup



2 tablespoons olive oil
   1 pound chorizo sausage 
3 quarts chicken stock
 2 cups chopped onion  
1 cup diced celery       
  1 cup diced carrots        
 4 cups shredded Kale   
                          2 tablespoons chopped or minced garlic 
                            A large pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
     2 small cans of baby clams
(confession:  the whole cloves shouldn't be in the picture... one too many budweisers while cooking )

Heat olive oil, add chorizo and cook 4 minutes
Add onion, carrots, and celery and saute for 3 to 4 minutes
Add chicken stock, shedded kale, garlic and red pepper flakes
Bring to a boil then simmer for 30 minutes.  Add clams and simmer for 10 minutes.  ENJOY!

 I've also added 1 cup of potatoes...  very good also...
