Cross in my pocket...

A Cross in My Pocket
 by  Mrs. Verna Mae Thomas

I carry a cross in my pocket
A simple reminder to me
Of the fact that I am a Christian
No matter where I may be.

This little cross is not magic,
Nor is it a good luck charm
It isn't meant to protect me
From every physical harm.

It's not for identification
For all the world to see
It's simply an understanding
Between my Savior and me.

When I put my hand in my pocket
To bring out a coin or a key
The cross is there to remind me
Of the price He paid for me.

It reminds me, too, to be thankful
For my blessings day by day
And to strive to serve Him better
In all that I do and say.

It's also a daily reminder
Of the peace and comfort I share
With all who know my Master
And give themselves to His care.

So, I carry a cross in my pocket
Reminding no one but me
That Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life
If only I'll let Him be.

January morning sky...

Driving around Sunday morning in deep prayer.  This was God's assurance to me that my prayer request was answered...

January gift...

What started out as a quick rush to get some hot-n-tots into the water afterwork  in hopes of netting a strong silver steelhead, turned out to be a spectacular January sunset gift...  The river was flat, the air was crisp and I could hear the silence of the oncoming evening over the purr of the Evinrude 9.9.  Birds were quickly gathering their last snack on the banks as daylight was giving way to a long night.  The earthy smell of the river was unmistakeable and draws me back time and time again.  The odor of the boat motor 50:1 gas/oil mix is something any fisherman can become addicted to.
Some cool looking cloud lines in the western sky started turning into a soul refreshing light show.  The colors seemed to changed minute by minute...
I soon forgot about the lines in the water as the beauty of God's hand was unfolding infront of me...
The crisp air was biting my hands as I was taking pictures...  (It felt great!)
The shadows were growing wider in the river...
The color show was getting more intense...
I turned the motor off, reeled in the poles and floated downstream for a bit...  I was amazed at the tranquility of the river this night...  The smells were stronger...  the silence was louder... the darkness was brighter... the cold was warmer... my batteries were getting recharged..  .my soul was at peace...  Church isn't always held inside 4 walls...
Heading back to the launch with a grin on my face as I get to the bridge...  I'm the only person on the river...  (Imagine that!)
The last of the light show... words do not do it  justice...  (No fish...  Who cares...)  God is Good...
